Advocacy for continued equestrian access to trails. MHC is the ONLY organization in Marin County advocating for our continued public land road and trail access throughout our County. MHC is the ONLY organization in Marin County advocating for road and trail safety for equestrians throughout our County. This work is ongoing and requires a lot of time and effort!!
Slow & Say Hello Program (SASH), a collaboration with Marin Conservation League and Marin County Bicycle Coalition. SASH hosts educational outposts in all public lands to educate recreational users in proper etiquette, trail safety and environmental conservation on the roads and trails. In the non-rainy season, there are several meet ups per month for stake holders to build relationships, understanding and respect for one another and educate the recreational community.
Equestrian participation at the Marin County Fair offering on site shoeing demonstrations by our top farriers using their sweetest horses. There are petting and love opportunities for children and adults with our friendliest and most gentle horse (and mini-horse) ambassadors - engendering enthusiasm, public connection, equine awareness and support in Marin County.
Equine disaster preparedness and response work with Marin Humane and other groups.
Support and advocacy for horse facilities’ facing environmental rules and regulation challenges.
Camaraderie and support to Bay Area Ridge Trail (BART), Bay Area Barns and Trails (BABT), Novato Horsemen’s, Inc. (NHI), Sonoma County Horse Council (SCHC), Marin Stables and other equestrian organizations.

Trail Partners (Safe Trails Marin) Slow and Say Hello!
Trail Partners (Safe Trails Marin) is a collaboration of The Marin Horse Council, The Marin Conservation League, and the Marin County Bicycle Coalition to make our trails safer. Other supporters are: One Tam, PRNSA (Pt. Reyes National Seashore) , CSP (Calif. State Parks), MMWD (Marin Water District), MCOSD (Marin County Open Space District), and GGNRA (Golden Gate National Recreation Area). This year, Bay Area Barns and Trails awarded a grant of $2,500 to Trail Partners for their ongoing educational program, "Tails and Tires". "Tails and Tires" is a program designed to educate High School Mountain Biking teams about trail etiquette and trail safety when sharing trails with horses.
